**UPDATE BELOW**
Leaving to take John to the airport soon, and I'm staying in the city to work tomorrow, so I'll do this now. I haven't actually eaten anything today. Lunch will be leftover channa masala, and for dinner we're going to Brickstore in Decatur, John's favorite. The food here is great, and not at all expensive; the beer is better, if you're into beer. The regular bar with a million taps is downstairs, and upstairs is an all-Belgian bar. We usually get an order of pretzels, which will be the dairy challenge of the day, since the best part of the pretzels is the creamy, buttery mustard that comes with them. The pierogies have cheese, too, darn it all. No Dairy January! *sigh* The sweet potato curry is great, so nobody tell me if there's butter in it.
After that, if there's time, we'll probably go to the Octane Coffee in Midtown--yes, I know there's one right on North Decatur, but John likes the one in Midtown...yes, I know the 5 Seasons Westside is right across from Octane, but John likes Brickstore...besides, every time I've tried to go to Octane on N. Decatur, it's closed. It's possible we could drop more cash at this coffee shop than we will for dinner, since John usually ends up alternating fancypants beer with fancypants coffee. Whatever I drink here will probably have the word "soy" in it--my opinion on soy is that it's yummy and I avoid GM soys whenever possible. You don't have to write and tell me that GM soy is bad for me.
Aside: Anyone who has a happy trigger finger on the word "soy" better be buying all organic milk, cheese, butter, eggs, beef and chicken, or else y'all better just leave me alone for drinking soy. Anyway, I have a thing of almond milk in the fridge, and it will last me a month, most likely.
Hang on, I just saw that Octane has grilled PB&J. There's no dairy in THAT, right? ...Right? What, it's probably grilled in butter? Shut up.

GM = genetically modified. Any more questions?
ReplyDeleteIs GM soy okay if it's Mendel-approved?
